Why is my battery discharging while the sun is shining
It may feel counter-intuitive: bright sun, yet the battery is discharging. In some strategies that behaviour is intentional.
Possible explanations
- Leafy Energy charges at low prices (often at night) and sells energy at higher prices during the day.
- Your active profile focuses on maximising return rather than pure self-consumption.
- There may be a limit to how much power can flow directly from your solar inverter, so extra demand is covered by the battery.
Check your strategy in the app
- Go to Settings > Battery profiles and review the active strategy.
- Read the description: "Cost optimisation", "Revenue maximisation" or "Autonomy".
Use in the demo
- In the demo a profile is available that deliberately discharges during expensive hours even when the sun is shining.
- This is a great way to explain price incentives and flexibility.
