My car will not charge, what can I do
You plug in the cable, the lights on the charge point blink for a moment and then nothing happens, or the session starts and stops immediately. This article walks you through the main checks.
1. Verify the basics
- Make sure the car is in a mode that allows charging (some EVs have special settings).
- Check that the cable is firmly connected on both sides and not damaged.
- Look at the charge point indicator: is it clearly showing an error or no light at all.
2. Try a different combination
- If possible, try another car on the same charge point.
- Try your car at a different charge point or public charger.
- If the problem follows the car, the charge point is probably not the root cause.
3. Check Leafy Energy settings
- Open the Leafy Energy app and confirm smart charging is not paused.
- Check whether any scenarios or schedules are actively blocking charging.
- In the demo you can enable a fictional block to show how this looks.
If charging still fails after these checks, contact your installer or charge point provider and include the time and any error code shown in the app.
