Charge cable won't unlock – what can you do?

A stuck cable can be stressful, but usually the cause is simple: the car or charger is deliberately locking the plug. Leafy Energy cannot physically unlock it, but it can show whether the session has really ended.

Standard steps

• Stop the charging session in the Leafy Energy app or on the charger.
• Unlock the car using the key or app (sometimes you need to press “unlock” twice).
• Wait a few seconds until you hear a click.

Specific situations

• Storm or heavy rain: some cars clamp the plug extra tightly; give the system a moment.
• Error on charger: look for a physical release button or mechanical unlock on the charge point.

In Leafy Energy's session details you can verify that charging has stopped. If the cable remains locked anyway, the root cause is almost always in the car or charger hardware.
