Solar PV and battery: a winning combination

With solar panels you can charge your battery not only based on cheap hours but also using your own generation. Leafy Energy combines both sources.

Priority 1: self-consumption

• Leafy Energy first looks at available solar surplus.
• If there is enough surplus, the battery charges without additional grid import.

Priority 2: spot market

• In low-sun situations Leafy Energy looks at hourly market prices.
• If prices are extremely low, it may still be beneficial to charge from the grid.

Configuring this in Leafy Energy

1. Connect your PV inverter in the Solar section.
2. Enable “Use own solar first” in the battery settings.
3. Define how much free capacity you want to keep for sunny midday hours.

In demos this is a powerful example: on sunny days self-consumption dominates, while on cloudy days the strategy automatically leans more on dynamic tariffs.
