Always keep a buffer: reserve capacity

Fully draining your battery to maximise savings is not always wise. With Leafy Energy you can configure smart reserve capacity for outages or emergencies.

Set a minimum level

• In the battery profile you define a minimum state of charge (for example 20–40%).
• Leafy Energy will not discharge below this threshold during normal operation.

Risk-based buffers

• In regions with frequent outages, you may choose a higher buffer.
• When storms or planned maintenance are announced, Leafy Energy can temporarily charge up further.

Backup mode

If your system supports backup operation, Leafy Energy can switch into a backup profile when an outage is detected: only critical loads such as modem, router, lighting, and fridge remain powered.

In demos this works well with a “virtual outage”: trigger an outage in the UI and show how household consumption changes instantly.
