The basics of charging and discharging strategies
With Leafy Energy you do not control your home battery “by gut feeling”, but based on dynamic prices, your usage profile, and the technical limits of your battery.
Three building blocks
- Price: when is electricity cheap, when is it expensive?
- Profile: when do you consume the most and which devices can you shift?
- Battery: how many kWh can you store and at what power can you charge/discharge?
Goals of a strategy
- Cost reduction: charge during low-price hours, discharge when prices are high.
- Peak shaving: limit grid peaks to protect fuses and your main connection.
- Comfort and safety: always keep a minimum reserve for emergencies.
Leafy Energy as a “conductor”
Leafy Energy turns these building blocks into concrete decisions: do charge between 03:00–04:00, do not charge between 18:00–19:00, and only discharge if your configured minimum level is not violated.
In demo sessions you can visualise these basics with simple charts: blue for prices, green for battery level, and orange for consumption.
