Safety first: what to do if you notice smoke or heat

If you see smoke, smell burning or notice unusual heat around electrical devices, chargers or batteries, safety comes first. Leafy Energy cannot fix this remotely; you must act locally.

Immediate actions

• Move yourself and others to safety if there is an immediate fire risk.
• If in doubt, or if you see open flames, call the emergency services right away.
• Only use a fire extinguisher if you know how and if it is safe to do so.

Things you should not do

• Do not tamper with the consumer unit if there is smoke or noise coming from it.
• Never use water on electrical systems.
• Do not open chargers or batteries yourself.

After the incident

• Have a qualified installer or inspector assess whether the installation is still safe.
• Record time, situation and any Leafy Energy messages you saw.
