First-month checklist for EV drivers

With an electric vehicle you can benefit from dynamic tariffs very directly. In your first Leafy month you can lay the groundwork.

Step 1: link your car and charger

• Check the “Electric vehicles and smart charging” category to see which cars and chargers are supported.
• Connect them to Leafy Energy or via your smart home system (for example Home Assistant or Homey).

Step 2: configure charging profiles

• Define your typical departure times (for example “weekdays 07:30, weekends flexible”).
• Set a minimum state of charge that always feels safe for you.
• Enable smart charging on dynamic prices so Leafy Energy selects cheaper hours.

Step 3: evaluate the first month

• Compare your cost per kWh now versus your previous setup.
• Check whether your car is ready in time and if the schedule feels natural.

Use the first month as a test phase: it’s better to start conservatively and optimise later than to be overly aggressive from day one.
