A home battery lets you store cheap or self-generated energy for later use. In month one, your profile doesn’t have to be perfect yet; the most important thing is that your battery behaves predictably.

Basic strategy

• Charge mainly during low-price hours or when solar production is high.
• Discharge during peak hours or when prices are relatively high.
• Keep a small buffer for unexpected spikes in usage.

Configuring Leafy Energy and your smart home

In the Leafy Energy app you can select a simple “night charging” profile. In Home Assistant or Homey you can build additional logic on top, for example based on expected prices for the next 24 hours.
