What do we mean by smart charging?
With Leafy Energy, smart charging means your EV automatically charges when electricity is cheaper, greener, or both. You define the rules, and the system does the rest.
Three key factors
- Price: hourly market prices change every hour.
- Time: when your car must be ready (for example 07:00).
- Power: how much your connection and charger can handle.
How Leafy Energy uses this
Leafy Energy fetches the latest day-ahead prices and combines them with your charging preferences. It then calculates a schedule that:
- puts enough energy into your battery,
- charges as much as possible in the cheapest hours,
- and respects household load, home battery and limits.
In demos, a single slider can show how consumption changes from “random” to “nicely clustered around the cheapest hours”.
