Typical pitfalls in smart charging
Smart charging sounds magical, but a few wrong settings can make the experience disappointing. This article highlights the most common mistakes.
Examples of common mistakes
- Too small time window: the car is plugged in for such a short time that there is hardly any room to optimise.
- Very high minimum SOC: if you always require 90 percent, the optimisation space is limited.
- Mismatched profile: for example a very price-focused profile while you make many spontaneous evening trips.
- Charger in “always max” mode: local settings override smart control.
How Leafy Energy helps
- The app warns you when your settings make smart optimisation difficult.
- There are quick presets that let you return to a healthy profile with a single tap.
- The analysis tab explains odd patterns, for example “We had to charge earlier due to your high minimum SOC”.
In demos, you can intentionally create these mistakes, show the warnings in the interface, and then “fix” everything in a few clicks using a better profile.
