Plug-in battery as an “evening peak smoother”
In this demo scenario you use a plug-in battery to soften the typical cooking and evening peaks. It’s a great way to show customers how to “start small” with storage.
Context
- Apartment with an induction cooktop and a few heavy kitchen appliances.
- No fixed home battery, but a 3 kWh LeafyBox plug-in battery.
Strategy
- Charge during cheap daytime hours and periods of high solar production.
- Between 17:00 and 21:00, run lights, media, and small devices from the plug-in battery.
- The cooktop remains on the grid, but the overall peak is flattened.
What do you show in Leafy Energy?
- Before/after graphs for the evening peak.
- A clearly lower grid peak around dinner time.
- A monthly cost comparison, explained in everyday language.
This scenario is perfect in demos to show that you don’t need a huge basement battery to benefit from dynamic prices and storage.
