Why security matters in a smart home
With Leafy Energy, more and more devices are connected to the internet: charge points, home batteries, smart plugs, and home automation hubs. This brings convenience and savings, but also makes security and privacy more important.
Three layers of security
- Account security: your Leafy Energy account, email, and passwords.
- Network security: your router, Wi-Fi, and guest networks.
- Device security: charge points, smart plugs, controllers, and sensors.
Practical recommendations
- Always use a unique password for Leafy Energy that you do not use anywhere else.
- Enable multi-factor authentication (MFA) on your email and home automation accounts where possible.
- Never share your Leafy Energy login with others; use separate family or guest accounts if available.
Security in demo environments
Because Leafy Energy is a fictional demo company, we recommend using demo accounts and virtual devices in demos. Show the principle of strong security, but avoid real passwords or production data in presentations.
