Preparing for an outage
A good backup power strategy starts not with the battery, but with your home layout and the decisions you make about what really matters during an outage.
Step 1: Define your priorities
- Communication: modem, router, phone chargers.
- Safety: basic lighting, smoke detectors, possibly CCTV.
- Comfort: fridge, freezer, basic heating or a small heater.
Step 2: Map your circuits
- Have an electrician map which circuits you’d want on backup.
- Clearly distinguish critical from non-critical loads.
Step 3: Create a profile in Leafy Energy
- Open the Backup profiles section in Leafy Energy.
- Create a new profile, such as “Essentials only” or “Home office + cooling”.
- Attach the selected devices/circuits and configure a minimum reserve level.
In demos you can turn these steps into a visual checklist with icons for each type of load, making it obvious which choices users need to make.
