What happens to my smart meter when I switch?

Your smart meter stays exactly where it is; no one needs to come over just because you switch suppliers. What does change is which supplier is allowed to access your meter data.

How it works technically

• The grid operator owns and manages the smart meter, even after you switch.
• You authorise Leafy Energy to retrieve your consumption and feed-in data.
• Your old supplier automatically loses access once the switch is completed.

After your start date it can take a few days before your full history appears in the Leafy Energy app. New readings do arrive immediately and become visible per hour once the connection is active.
