Creating automations driven by price data
With Leafy Energy integrated into Home Assistant, you can build automations that respond to price levels. Turn devices on during cheap hours and off again when prices spike.
Example: automation for cheap hours
- Go to Settings > Automations & Scenes.
- Create a new automation triggered by
sensor.leafyenergy_price_nowdropping below a threshold. - Add actions to switch on a smart plug or appliance.
Example triggers
- Price below X cents per kWh.
- Next hour is cheaper than the current one.
- Leafy Energy event “Cheapest block starts now”.
By treating Leafy Energy prices as first-class citizens in Home Assistant, you can model anything from simple washing machine timers to complex multi-device coordination.
