Glossary for dynamic tariffs
In the world of dynamic energy, jargon can be overwhelming. This mini glossary explains the key terms.
Day-ahead
The market where prices are set per hour one day in advance. Leafy Energy bases its hourly tariffs on this market.
Imbalance
The difference between forecast and actual supply/demand. It can lead to corrections and background costs but is usually already reflected in the all-in price in the app.
Peak shaving
Flattening consumption peaks by temporarily reducing usage or discharging a battery.
Load shifting
Shifting consumption in time, for example moving washing or EV charging to cheaper hours.
All-in price
The total price per kWh including market price, markups, taxes, and VAT. This is the price you ultimately multiply your usage with.
This glossary serves as a quick reference for new customers and a cheat sheet for demos.
